UltraVNC: A free remote-control utility, supports Windows, Linux, other OS's. Offers File transfer, chat, windows login security, proxy functionality.
NetTime: Allows windows hosts to synchronize with network time servers. Get atomic clock accuracy on your PC for free!
Syslog: Free logging server for Windows. Collect information from network devices that support syslog.

Knoppix-STD: Pronounced Kuh-noppicks. A bootable CD-ROM image that allows you to boot a PC from CD-ROM into a Debian-based Linux distribution. Comes with a lot of really interesting security tools.
Internet Storm Center: The Internet Storm Center is an excellent resource to learn about active security threats on the public internet.
Sick of web-crawling email address miners finding your address in your web page and sending you spam? Use this email munger. Mangles your ascii email address into unicode so web spiders won't find it. I wonder if the effectiveness is a myth, though...
